Whats the difference between a RUBY RED and a RED Peacock Cichlid…..or are they the same fish?

    Peacocks - see the second link (cat 3) are really distinguished by colour and where they were caught in Lake malawi. What is sold as a "red" peacock in a LFS could be anything that looks like a hap and has a red colour

    The last link explains what "red" peacocks are - an attempt to get a consistent red colour from a strain of aulonocara that has many different colour variations in the wild

    I tried to research this question for you and got very mixed answers. Some say no difference they are the same yet others say it is the difference in the color of their face. You might check the link below and see if you can find your fish
