I have had my Blue Spot Platy in the breeding net for over 4 weeks. She’s huge, but no signs of labor or babies. She has a big black spot near her butt. She won’t eat. She has been in the net so long that I am second guessing her pregnancy. How long are Platys’ Pregnant? When is she going to have babies?

What does the fry of platy/swordtail mix look like?
My mother gave me a blue swordtail female, thinking it was a platty…There where males also…Freek out it came from far away!! I wish I had a male!!! I have already seen blue platties, was just wondering if they where rare…

4 Angel Fish
8 Gold Pristella Tetras
8 Rummy Nose Tetras
1 Rubber Pleco
6 Zebra Danios or 6 Blue Platys (Which one do you think?)

Well I Definatley want to get the angels because the reason I am getting the tank is to put angels in it.

I was wondering if say…
A red wag platy could breed with a top sail or blue platy?
If so, can ANY platy breed with any platy?
–Red wag, Silver, Top sail, Blue, Mickey Mouse, Sunset, etc?
If so, can platy breed with mollies? They look very similar and are both live-bearing breeders right?
Possible? Possible but maybe unlikely? Or just not possible at all?

I heard it can be done by crossing a blue platy with an albino swordtail.
Which fish should be male and which female?
All the albino (red eye) swordtails at the petshop seem to have a bit of pineapple colouring in them. Will this affect the outcome of a blue swordtail?
All fish will be quarenteened for a few months with their own sex befoore I undergo the breeding.

I just bought my 5-gallon tank and i want a couple of platies. I went to petsmart the other day and I saw the sunset platies and didnt really look at anything else. now i am wondering if they have blue coral platies, because blue would look nicer in my room. if anyone coould answer that would be really helpful. thanks ahead of time

I would also have some kind of bottom feeder like cory catfish or shrimp or one bristle-nose pleco or something. Does that change things a lot?
